The behavior of a small man in my class and the consequences of violent computer games on him has great concern. He was making great progress but suddenly deteriorated and research revealed that his parents had a violent video game again in the House!
His situation has taken a twist. This twist adds evidence that violent computer games on children effects negative thoughts and behaviors. Maybe in many cases the effect is not as extreme as this small 9-year-old boy, but if violence and aggression bombing brain of a child it may not be a good experience.
Even war soldiers, trained for, become traumatized after being exposed to violence. It could be argued that a professional military experience real life situations with real blood and guts, real guns and real injuries, so their trauma is understandable.
However, modern computer graphics are so realistic and children completely engrossed in the activity so while they are broadcast on deaths and injuries caused, it is really for them ...They are entranced by the action on the screen as if hypnotized. And it is also recognized that hypnosis an incredible impact on the human mind can have!
Back to the small 9-year-old ...
A letter went home ... The parents lack of care and their inability or inadequacy in keeping a diet of violence away from their children is truly astounding ...The regular school staff had also spoken with his parents requests inappropriate games and movies need to be removed!
When early the next day what he done after school the previous evening he said that he looked for his second World War 2 game, but it had been hidden. Oh well, that is good--a step in the right direction!
But only about the missing game increased his emotional level and he was quite restless and anxious once again. He was well on his way to a very badly behaved child and lose the plot ...
I explained to him why it was important that he couldn't play the game more and how it made him very unhappy. Surprisingly he had not had any explanation of his parents.
He was very tearful and said he was sorry that he had naughty but he missed the game and wanted to play. He was pacing around, his head with his hand, obviously very restless--poor little soul banging. even the idea of access to the game shipped anxiety levels catapulting out of the normal range.
Gradually he arranged and was much better that morning. Then, in the afternoon he went to mainstream school ...
But things don't go well in school--what had gone wrong?
Things had started work to be completed, but then the class was allowed to choose an activity in the free time. some of the children wanted to play on the computer and the support worker asked him if he wanted to join, so that they can for their activity for 15 minutes.
A site of the game is open. There is nothing wrong with that, can you say. Most people would agree--a school computer system is highly regulated where all the games are vetted and nothing inappropriate is available.
The chosen game was loosely related to war, with tanks, a few landmines and some explosions.Of course, our little boy bags to this game as a guided missile! But it was pretty harmless stuff. well, harmless where most kids are involved! And everything went fine while the game was played ...
But the problems started when they had to shut down the machine and return to class. ..Have you ever tried a drunk with a drink to stop?Do you have a person who craves a difficult situation and has no drugs?
This little guy was just as drunk or the drug addict when he wants to play a game that was a lot less image than he had previously been subjected to in his house.Even with this innocent game was he behaves as you would expect an addict. He could not simply dealing with is removed from its object of addiction.
The rest of his class had gone to sitting, but he was isolated with his aid Assistant. He was excited, verbally aggressive and polar bears the room requirements to the computer game. He said that he wanted to shoot guns, to kill people and knife letting people bleeding. He was very upset and worried because he had to stop playing. He was behaving like an addict withdrawal. it was a terrible sight.
He will not be allowed a more computer games for the foreseeable future. The situation will soothe and strategies for the management of behavior that worked so well that he begins again makes good progress.
A better example of the terrible and negative effects of violent computer games on a small child would be hard to find.
